SAM BIRD
Sam Bird is a British racing driver, who currently drives for NEOM McLaren in Formula E.
Sam began his single seater racing career in Formula BMW in 2004, coming runner up in the series in 2005. He then competed in Formula Renault, and various Formula 3 and GP2 Series seasons, before holding a number of Formula 1 roles, including being Test and Reserve Driver for the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team. He also raced in the FIA World Endurance Championship, winning the LMP2 class in 2015 and finishing second in the LMGTE Pro class in 2016.
Sam has competed in the FIA Formula E World Championship since Season 1 (2014/15) of the championship, being one of the only drivers on the grid to do so – as well as being one of the most successful drivers on the grid.
Sam joined the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team for the 2023/24 season of the FIA Formula E World Championship, bringing with him a wealth of experience across all motorsport categories and continues with the team today.
