Ma Qing Hua came to international prominence when he was added to HRT F1 driver development program in 2012 and made history as the first Chinese-born driver to drive a Formula 1 car at an FIA sanctioned event – a milestone describe as “heralding an important step for Chinese motorsport”
Ma has competed in such series as Italian Formula 3000 in 2005 and the British Formula Three Championship. He also raced for A1 Team China and the China round of the 2005/06 A1 Grand Prix season. While driving for Beijing Hyundai, he won the China Tour Car Championship’s 1600cc class drivers’ title in 2011.
In early 2014, Ma won a WTCC race in Moscow, Russia becoming the first Chinese person to win a FIA sanctioned race.
